Our recent Armed Forces Covenant event at Center Parcs, Whinfell Forest, brought together over 50 local business people to explore how businesses can better support the armed forces community and recruit ex-service personnel.
The day began with an informative presentation on the Armed Forces Covenant by Kerryanne Wilde. Kerryanne explained the many benefits that the Covenant offers and highlighted how it supports service members, veterans, and their families.
Following Kerryanne’s presentation, Glenn Franklin shared his inspiring career story. Glenn talked about his experiences serving in the Army and his transition to becoming the Managing Director of Center Parcs.
Commanding Officer 103 Regt RA, Taylor-Jane Fox then told the group about the different branches of the Army, including the Army Reserves, and Cadets and how businesses can better support those who have been in the Army at work.
The final presentation of the day was delivered by Teresa Mulholland of Carlisle United, who spoke passionately about the work being done by Carlisle United’s Veterans Club. Teresa shared how the club provides a vital support network for veterans, offering them a sense of belonging and community after leaving the armed forces.
After a networking lunch, the event continued with a Q&A panel session where all the speakers came together to answer questions from the attendees.
