Cumbria Chamber of Commerce is delighted to announce Sealy UK as its first Made in Cumbria sponsor.
Made in Cumbria is a Cumbria Chamber of Commerce brand which promotes (mainly artisan) Cumbrian products, providing a platform for local businesses to showcase their products made within the county. Since the relaunch just over a year ago, the Made in Cumbria website is now home to around 60 member businesses with over 14k social media followers.
As a sponsor of Made in Cumbria, Sealy is supporting the promotion of Made in Cumbria businesses to potential customers in Cumbria, nationally and internationally. In recognition of this commitment, Sealy will receive a range of brand exposure alongside the Made in Cumbria brand.
Sealy’s Aspatria site is one of the region’s anchor businesses, employing 180 people. The factory produces over 400 mattresses per day, ranging up to the ultra-premium Sealy Posturepedic Exquisite mattress, which retails for around £4,000. The entire manufacturing process takes place on site, beginning with the making springs from coils of wire, through to the mattress fabrication and construction, with many of these operations finished by hand.
The site was established in Aspatria in1974 and was acquired by Sealy Australia in 2020. Neil Clark joined as General Manager in 2024, relocating to Cumbria to lead the business. Since then the business has thrived, growing over 20% last year despite challenging marketing conditions.
Neil puts much of Sealy’s success down to the skills and dedication of the local Cumbrian workforce, an essential component in the creation of their unique, high quality products.
Marketing Manager at Cumbria Chamber of Commerce, Joe Sanders, visited Sealy to meet with Neil and Marketing Director, Nichola Pass, to discuss plans for the partnership.
