Grant-funded plans available at no cost — This can help landowners unlock funding and bring woodlands into productive management
Carlisle-based LSH Forestry is excited to announce that it is now offering free woodland management plans to woodland owners across Cumbria. The plans are fully funded through the PA3 Woodland Management Plan grant, meaning eligible landowners get support to produce their plans.
A woodland management plan is a key requirement for accessing a range of rural funding schemes, and LSH Forestry is making it easy landowners to take that first step. Whether a woodland has been left unmanaged for years or an owner wants to understand what their trees could be doing for their land and the wider landscape, LSH Forestry will work collaboratively to produce a forestry commission-approved plan.
Management Plans Can Unlock
- Access to Countryside Stewardship
- Higher Tier funding
- A 10-year felling licence, providing
- long-term management security
- Improved long-term value, resilience,
- and biodiversity of the woodland
- A clear, practical roadmap tailored
- to the landowner’s own objectives
Eligibility: Woodlands must be at least 0.5 hectares in size. There is no upper size limit, though larger or more complex sites may require an initial discussion before work begins.
“Many woodland owners in Cumbria simply don’t know what their woodland could be doing for them — or that expert help is available at no cost. We want to change that. Whether you have a small copse or a large mixed woodland, we’d love to talk to you and help you make the most of it, for your land and for future generations.”
— Lochlan Dulson (LSH Forestry)
