Aims and purpose of the job
To provide accountancy and corporation tax services to a range of business enterprises, delivering high quality, compliant and efficient services to clients through excellent customer service, communication and in the implementation of systems and processes.
To effectively manage the operation of the Traders Team by supervising and motivating staff and ensuring work is carried out accurately and efficiently at all times.
Accounts Senior Duties to include:
1. To prepare and complete financial statements for a range of business enterprises, including preparation and completion of corporation tax computations.
2. To plan, manage and prioritise your own workflow, budgets, and productivity to ensure targets and deadlines are met.
3. To aim to carry out all work efficiently with a recovery of at least 95% in line with the firm’s objective.
4. To work efficiently and effectively to ensure that minimal adjustments are needed post accounts manager review, working with a proactive approach to clear queries with clients ahead of meetings.
5. To liaise with other teams within the firm to ensure a joined-up approach is adopted to work where applicable. To work with personal tax, payroll, VAT/tax specialists, the financial services team and other departments when necessary to identify planning opportunities, advice and key communication points for Fee Earners ahead of meetings.
6. To deal with clients in a professional and courteous manner and ensure that their data, information and records are secure at all times, adhering to GDPR legislation.
7. To work with clients and their bookkeepers/financial controllers to assist them with their roles throughout the year. To liaise with businesses to ensure tax planning opportunities are identified and cut-off is measured accurately in the lead up to year ends.
8. To use and comply with business systems and processes such as APS, Virtual Cabinet, Xero, Digita, Quickbooks, and Sage.
9. To carry out all work within a four-week turnaround period, where appropriate.
10. To work closely with other members of the team on specialist projects as and when required.
11. To deal with all communications in a timely manner and ensure they are of a high professional standard.
12. To monitor non-chargeable time, ensuring this is minimal and unless otherwise agreed no more than 5%.
Accounts Supervisor Duties to include:
13. To allocate work and organise team workflow, ensuring work is prioritised appropriately and all filing deadlines are met.
14. To communicate regularly with the firm’s Agriculture and Traders team managers so that they are aware of the position that work is at and any issues which may arise. When appropriate, to request workflow requirements from managers in a timely manner.
15. To help your line manager identify ways to improve and develop the department.
16. To ensure that each member of your team is working to the firm’s expectations and that any development needs are identified and acted upon. Where they are not meeting expectations ensure this is effectively managed.
17. To monitor non-chargeable time for members of your team, ensuring this is minimal with the majority of the team having no more than 5% admin time.
18. To work with your line manager to monitor the recoveries for your team and office.
19. To provide assistance, support and further training to the team on technical issues where needed.
20. To review staff planning stage on jobs and complete all relevant reviews of accounts and VAT returns as per the instruction of your line manager.

Education / Qualifications
Five GCSEs at Grade A-C (9-4) to include Maths and English.
AAT qualified or equivalent or qualified by experience.
Skills/ Knowledge/ Experience
2+ years of experience in accountancy practice in a relevant sector.
Specialist technical knowledge.
Experience using DAPA – Digita Accounts Production Advanced.
Knowledge and experience with Xero/Sage/Quickbooks software.
Competent in Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook.
Analytical ability.
