If your business sells or operates within the EU, new legal requirements under the European Accessibility Act (EAA) now apply. The Act mandates EU-wide accessibility standards for digital services like websites.
Businesses have until 28th June 2025 to become compliant. Those who fail to meet the requirements may face penalties, including fines.
What are common accessibility issues which put your comms at risk of breaching the EAA?
- Sharing a QR code without a clickable link next to it – users with visual or motor impairments may not be able to scan QR codes
- Using low colour contrast and poor text alignment in PowerPoint presentations – these issues make your slides more difficult to follow with assistive technology
- Sharing flattened PDFs – screen readers are often unable to interpret PDFs in this format
- Having a website which isn’t optimised for screen readers and voice navigation – the structure of your website impacts how visually impaired people can use it
Act now to protect your business!
To help businesses navigate these changes, we’re running a webinar in partnership with DigiEnable. The session will provide practical, actionable guidance to ensure your digital communications are inclusive and compliant.
