Cumbria Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the North West Aerospace Alliance (NWAA), has launched Watchtower Cumbria, a fully funded business support programme designed to strengthen supply chain resilience and future readiness across the region’s advanced engineering and manufacturing sectors.
Building on the proven success of the Watchtower programme in Lancashire, the Cumbria rollout will support businesses operating in advanced engineering, manufacturing, aerospace, defence and associated supply chains to better understand market trends, emerging risks and future opportunities.
The programme will begin with a launch session, giving businesses the opportunity to explore the Watchtower approach and understand how the programme can support their growth. This will be followed by two optional full-day workshops, each covering different content and offering deeper, practical insight for businesses looking to take the next step.
Lesley Robinson, Head of Business Growth & Support at Cumbria Chamber of Commerce, said:
“Cumbria Business Growth Hub is delighted to bring the Watchtower programme to Cumbria. This is a fantastic opportunity not to be missed by businesses in the advanced engineering and manufacturing sectors, alongside defence and aerospace.
We’re holding a launch event so businesses can find out more, followed by two full-day workshops, with each day covering different content. It’s going to be full on, but well worth the time, and best of all, it’s fully funded for businesses in the Cumberland Council area. Businesses based in Westmorland & Furness can also take part for a very small fee.”
Paul Bell, Programme Manager at the North West Aerospace Alliance, added:
“Advanced engineering and manufacturing businesses are operating in an increasingly complex and fast-moving environment, and access to timely, credible insight has never been more important.
This NWAA Watchtower programme will provide Cumbrian companies with a clearer view of what’s coming next, helping them understand market demand, investment trends, technology shifts and future capability requirements.
We’re delighted to be delivering this Watchtower programme in partnership with Cumbria Chamber of Commerce for the benefit of their business community.”
Previously, comparable Watchtower programmes have delivered up to £7,500 of tailored one-to-one support per business, highlighting the significant value now being made available through this funded opportunity.
