Cumbria Chamber’s Women in Business Network is back with exciting dates for your diary!

Cumbria Chamber of Commerce and Knights (formerly Baines Wilson) are delighted to announce the return of the Women in Business Network for 2023 with a series of events aimed at inspiring and elevating women in Cumbria.

First up we have two ‘Lunch & Learn’ events delivered by some of Knights’ expert legal team. The first of these, which takes place on 13th July (11:00AM – 2:00PM) at the Rheged Centre near Penrith, will be on the topic of inclusivity covering definitions, how to promote inclusivity in the workplace and other things to think about. More information and booking.

Our next ‘Lunch & Learn’ comes to the Rheged Centre on 6th September (11:00AM – 2:00PM). This time, Knights will be teaching us how to ‘negotiate like a pro’. We’ll delve into contracts, why do we have them and what should they include, common pitfalls and terms and conditions. More information and booking.

On 16th of November, the network will be meeting for its annual social event. ‘Wine tasting and inspiration’ will take place at the Halston in Carlisle and feature a guided wine tasting of five different wines accompanied by antipasto sharing platters and cheese boards. The evening will also feature an inspirational talk from a special guest tbc. More information and booking.

The series culminates with our annual International Women’s Day conference, taking place on 8th March 2024. A packed day of interactive workshops, inspirational speakers, and thought-provoking discussions, this is a must-attend for women looking to elevate their careers and make new connections. Attendees can look forward to speaker line-up of trailblazing women who have risen to the top and made lasting impacts on their industries. More information and booking.

Head of commercial and business growth, Eve Halliday said:

“This year will see the return popular events such as the wine tasting and inspiration evening and Cumbria’s International Women’s Day 2024. In line with the evolution of our sponsor Knights, formerly Baines Wilson, we’ve also brought in some fresh new ideas like the ‘Lunch & Learns’. These events are designed to celebrate the contributions of women to the Cumbrian business community and provide opportunities for professional growth, networking, and knowledge sharing.”

Joanne Holborn, Employment Partner at Knights, said:

“There are so many brilliant women in business across our region – and we can’t wait to bring them together.

The events are a blend of helpful tips, insightful discussions, a chance to meet new people and – most importantly – a space to cheer each other on.”
